Tender steaks with slaw and sweet corn

The coleslaw was born in the eighteenth century taking as its origin a word in Dutch: koolsla, an abbreviation of the phrase “kool salade” that comes to mean “cabbage salad.” In England during the 1860s the name cold slaw was used when talking about this dish. The dish was introduced in the United States and today it is called coleslaw abbreviated as slaw and thus there are other salads that are called the same with the ending slaw.

The vegetables:

Bring lightly salted water to a boil in a pot (to boil corn).

Cut carrot into thin sticks.
Cut cabbage into fine julienne strips.
Cut corn in half.
Squeeze lemon.

The slaw:

In a bowl mix carrot, cabbage, lemon juice and a pinch of salt. Let sit for 10 min approx.

The sweet corn:

When the water boils in the pot, add sweet corn and boil for 7 min. 

The steak:

Heat oil in a frying pan.
Add the meat and season with salt and pepper.
Cook on both sides to the desired point of doneness.
Add the mayonnaise to the slaw and mix well. 

Your meal:

Serve steaks with sweet corn and red cabbage slaw.

Option:
Brush the corn with a little butter and season with a pinch of salt
